It was visitors day here on Alcatraz so my old man came to check in with me. Over the years we've shared some special moments, but sometimes we're not on the same wavelength. Such instances create Dad-isms. Here are some of the most memorable:
Random Acts of Kindness:
Dad: I was at the music store and I got you the Awesome Powers*1 soundtrack because I know you like that movie*2.
Blogman Translation:
*1 "Awesome Powers" = Austin Powers
*2 "I know you like that movie" = We watched it on TBS a year ago.
Catching Up:
Dad: I saw your old friend Tracy Brooks *1 and her mom at Bed, Bath, Beyond, and Things*2. Blogman Inner Monologue:
*1 I don't have a friend named "Tracy Brooks". I think he may be referring to Stacy Book, whom I haven't spoken to since the first grade.
*2 What is Bed, Bath, Beyond, and Things?
Embracing Technology:
Blogman: How do you like the iphone?
Dad: It's really neat because I can hook it up and listen to my music when I'm driving.
